It doesn't feel real. Yet the house is a mess. Packing. Painting. Furniture. People in an out. Soon, very soon, we're meeting our boys. We just can't wait. For now, we just gotta make sure we don't forget anything essential. Thanks for all the prayers, support and last minute help. I just won't know what to do when I don't have any more paperwork to chase...oh, wait,...I'll have more kids to chase :-)

Ahora si, parece que nos vamos. No lo podemos creer pero por la actividad en la casa, parece que si vamos por los famosos nenes! Ahorita solo estamos concentrando en preparar la casa lo mejor posible para cuando regresemos como una familia de siete y para que no se nos olvide nada esencial. La proxima historia sera desde Cartagena. Gracias por todas las oraciones, apoyo y por toda la ayuda de esos duendes que limpian, pintan, empacan, hacen mandados, cuidan a P y L. Incertidumbre
Para los que se han tratado de mantener informados por este medio: aqui estamos y no nos vamos. No es cierto. Aqui estamos y [todavia] no sabemos cuando nos vamos. Nada, pero nada, concreto para compartir. A lo mejor escribo hasta cuando estemos en Colombia con nuestro cinco cachorros porque no sera real hasta entonces.

Truly, really, no news to share. There's hope, there's things to do but there's no new travel/meeting date. I'm tempted to stop this blog until we are all together in Colombia. But most likely I won't be able to help but get excited, once again, when we have a new date to leave/meet the children. We'll see. Green light, red light
We seem to be playing a game of green light, red light. Except this one is no fun at all. It's a like a cruel version of it. Our excitement of having plane tickets didn't last even twenty four hours. It's a long complicated story but we are back at a red light stage. Everything was ready to go. When we thought we should take care of something and then....well...here we are.
Yesterday was one of my roughest day. A much calmer me is looking forward to Monday. Yes, we in the adoption world are not very fond of weekends or holidays because that means there's no hope of anything important being done.
I will not even attempt to speculate as to when we'll mee the boys and I have not idea if they had been told we would be meeting them on Thursday. All we can do is try our best, keep our head up, keep moving along what's in our hands. Truly, in God we trust. There's a saying in Spanish: A Dios rezando y con el hacha dando. I'm too exhausted to do the translation so have fun with a translator. That's what we are doing.

Clear for travel! Luz verde para viajar!
Where to begin? Lots happening. So many steps, so much of it out of our hands. The great news, though is that, today, finally, we've been cleared for travel. We *still* don't know when we'll meet the boys but we hope to know in the next couple of days. It should be very quickly, though, like in the next week.
So, lots of things won't get done at home but the most important thing for us at the moment is to be together, to start forming one family, under one roof. As we are approaching the holidays and the adoption process has several steps, we are well aware that we might not complete it in time to be home before the courts close. Even so, we've decided it is worth it to travel. So, once again, I ask my praying friends and family, to continue to remember us through this process.
To recap the process from now on: we meet the boys and that same day they stay with us!! We have some steps in between, and eventually, an adoption decree is issued, if all goes well. Then off to get new birth certificates, passports and their U.S. visas. We come home and when we land in the United States, they become U.S. citizens. Most of the paperwork needed for those visas is done way before, even before we know which specific children we are adopting.
The boys live in Cartagena which is a tourist destination on the Caribbean -- so we'll be packing beach, summery attire. We'll be there until the adoption is finalized. Then we'll move off to Bogota, where most likely it will be rainy and cold, to pay a visit to the U.S. Embassy and continue with the visa process. After that, we can head home.

Tanto que ha pasado y tantos pasos en este proceso fuera de nuestras manos. Si antes revisaba mi correo constantemente, estos dias han habido momentos que ni una supercomputadora de UCSD se me haria lo suficientemente rapida. Pero, por fin, nos han dado luz verde para viajar. En nuestro mundo, esto es enorme. Aun no tenemos fecha pero sera prontito para poder tener algo de esperanza de que volveremos como una familia de siete en diciembre.
Tengo historias que contar pero me las guardo -- como nuestras aventuras para obtener visas. Hoy solo hay dicha y esperanza.
Los ninos viven en Cartagena, que es una ciudad turistica en el caribe. Pasaremos ahi la mayoria del tiempo. Para los que no saben o no se acuerdan como funciona esto: Desde el dia que conocemos a los ninos, ellos permanecen con nosotros y empezamos el proceso de hacernos una sola familia. Hay varios pasos despues pero lo mas significativo es cuando se recibe la sentencia de adopcion. Es ahi cuando se vuelven legalmente nuestros hijos y se procede con nuevas actas de nacimiento, pasaportes. De Cartagena nos vamos a Bogota, a seguir tramitando sus visas. Ya que tengan visas americanas, podemos regresar a casa. Cuando los ninos llegan a este pais, se convierten en ciudadanos americanos sin perder su ciudadania Colombiana.
Hemos estado haciendo preparativos en la casa pero la cosa ahora si se vuelve real. Lo que alcanzemos hacer bien y lo que no, pues tendra que esperar.
Ahorita empezamos a ver vuelos y lugares de hospedaje.

Tick, tick, tick...
Lots of excitement and anxiety continue to be name of the game in this household. We don't have all the needed clearances so we don't have travel dates. Some progress has been made (our I-800s were approved today) but we need more (too complicated to explain but more immigration-related clearances), we need to receive an updated fbi clearance, hopefully pick up our travel visas next week.
We've decided to not post the children's photos until we meet them or maybe not until they are officially adopted. A tad bit on the paranoid side, I know. If you are lucky enough to see me :-) and I happen to have my ton of files with me, ask me and I'll show you the pictures I have. They are some cute boys!
And, their names...I might share that soon! Just adding to the excitement here.
We've started the room preparations at home. L is moving into the guest room so we started painting that room some bright shades of pink. Once she is moved into the new room, we'll paint that room -- I don't think the boys will like a pink room :-) We have to pick colors for the boys' rooms.
So, in between paperwork and preparations, we are all busy, busy, busy.

Solo reportando que no tenemos fecha todavia. Hoy dimos un pasito mas pero todo lo que resta esta fuera de nuestras manos.
Hemos decidido no poner las fotos de nuestros peques en este blog, al menos no por ahorita. Creanme cuando les digo que estan preciosos porque ninguna madre miente en ese departamento. Me voy a armar de valor un dia de estos y compartire sus nombres :-) Algo de suspenso para mantenerlos interesados en leer esta pagina.
Asi es que seguimos ocupados, siempre hay papeleo que hacer y empezamos a preparar las habitaciones. La princesa se va a cambia de cuarto. Unos duendes ya empezaron a pintar su carto :-) Cuando eso este terminado, tenemos que pintar los cuartos de los caballeros. Todavia no hemos escogido colores pero ya veremos este fin de semana.

Son tres niños. It's a boy -- times three
Noticias de última hora. Hemos recibido LA llamada que tanto esperabamos. El 25 de agosto nos enteramos que nos asignaron a tres niños (1.5, 3.5, 5.5 años). Estan preciosos y estamos ansiosos de conocerlos y tenerlos. Ellos viven en Cartagena, Colombia.
Por muchas razones, no pudimos aceptarlos oficialmente hasta ayer. Esta adopción es completemante diferente a las dos anteriores y ahora estamos haciendo todos los trámites que faltan para poder viajar a Colombia. Hay ciertas cosas que estan en nuestras manos y que podemos hacer rapidito. Hay otros trámites que dependen de entidades del gobierno (Estados Unidos y Colombia) y solo nos queda esperar. Nuestra esperanza es que podamos traerlos a casa para Navidad.
En cuanto sepamos la fecha en que los conoceremos, la avisaremos. Por ahorita, esta casa esta llena de emoción. Si Pablo me trae loca con su energía, imagínense como me van a traer cuatro!! Pobre Lulú!

Yeap! Heard that right. We have wonderful news: we have three handsome boys (1.5, 3.5, and 5.5 old) waiting for us in Cartagena, Colombia. This house is full of excitement. We've known about them since August 25 but for many details that would bore people not familiar with international adoption, we couldn't accept them until yesterday. We really couldn't be happier.
I'm having issues with myself and how I will blog about this third adoption journey. This adoption is completely different than our first two. I feel very protective and don't even want to post their picture and their names. So, you may not 'see' them until we meet them in person.
Which brings me to the meet them in person part. We have absolutely no idea when we'll meet them. Our hopes and prayers are that we'll be able to bring them home by Christmas. But, like I said, everything is different this time. I'll share our travel date/meeting date once we know.
Thank you all for your continued support.

Something fun while we wait
