A milestone

Today, our agency called to say that we have been approved by ICBF. Yes, that's right. Approved. Officially waiting. In our adoption world, this is huge. As a friend already said, the 'nesting' period now begins. How long that nesting period will is uncertain. But, we have been deemed fit to adopt a sibling group of three, with the oldest up to six years old. Our approval letter is dated June 12 so we've been officially waiting for about a month now. That we just found out today is a minor detail :-)

Familia y amigos: estamos oficialmente en la lista de espera para un grupo de hermanos de hasta seis anios. Justamente lo que pediamos. Hoy nos enteramos y esto hace oficial nuestra espera. Normalmente, nos dicen a que region del pais nos asignan y de ahi a esperar mas. O puede que directamente sepamos de la region y asignacion a la vez. Todo esto es impredecible. La carta dice que fuimos aprobamos el 12 de junio asi es que hace casi un mes. Ahora les seguimos pidiendo sus oraciones, por esos ninios que andan por ahi, sin saber que aca tiene una familia que los espera con los brazos abiertos. Les pedimos, tambien, oraciones por nosotros, para que sepamos brindarle a estos ninios todo lo que necesiten. Les pedimos oraciones por los dos hermanos que ya tienen aca, para que sus pequenios corazoncitos sepan recibirlos. Y, mas que nada, les seguimos dando gracias por su apoyo.

One more step done

Today we learned that our requested documents have been translated and presented to Bienestar. We now wait for the results of their review of our file. No idea how long it will take for them to respond.
Meanwhile, we gear up for our garage sale this weekend. We've received some contributions which we are very thankful for. As tiring as the prospect of a garage sale is, we are looking forward to it with excitement.

Hoy nos enteramos que nuestra ampliacion fue presentada a Bienestar (ICBF) este pasado lunes 8 de junio. Esperemos que pronto nos digan si nos aprueban o si necesitan mas documentos o que onda!!!
Mientras tanto, nos preparamos para la venta de garage, con la ayuda de la familia y las generosas contribuciones de familiares, amigos y conocidos.

Garage sale

Mientras seguimos esperando, seguimos pensando en como recabar fondos para esta aventura nuestra. Con la ayuda de mi familia, vamos a hacer otra venta de garage. Si a alguien le interesa contribuir cosas que ya no quiere, nada mas me dice. Por fin hoy nuestra agencia manda los documentos a Colombia. Yo creo que los reciben la proxima semana y seguimos esperando respuesta sobre la aprobacion de nuestra solicitud.

While we continue to wait, we continue to think of creative ways to raise money for this adventure of ours. While we have been trying to save, the expenses will be many and sudden for the actual trip, stay in Colombia and preparation of bedrooms. So, since we have some things left over from the garage sale next year and it is time for some spring cleaning around here, we'll be holding another garage sale with the help of my family. So, if you want things off your hands, just say the word and we'll be happy to take them. Our sale will be June 13, 14. Whatever things we don't sell, we donate.

Pasito a paso

Ok. Ahi vamos. La ampliacion al estudio psicologico fue terminada y enviada a nuestra agencia. Ahora a esperar que sea enviada a Colombia, traducida, recibida por el ICBF y a seguir esperando respuesta.

Moving right along

Who knows the exact dates of things but this week, on Monday, we learned that ICBF wanted some more information. So, that means that our file got translated, submitted to ICBF and that they have given it a first review. This, for us, is a huge step. We are working on what they requested and hope to send it to them next week. So, hip, hip, hooray!

Dossier in Colombia
Our dossier was sent to Colombia on or about March 13. We were told to expect about three weeks for it to be translated and then on to ICBF. Yay for progress!

Nuestros documentos estan el la fase de traduccion para poder ser presentados al ICBF. Llegaron alla mas o menos el 13 de marzo y esta traduccion durara aproximadamente 3 semanas.

Dossier on its way

Aqui seguimos. Todos los documentos oficiales fueron enviados a nuestra agencia ayer. La agencia se encargara de que todo este en orden y si no, ya nos haran saber que falta. De ahi se van a Colombia para traduccion y despues al ICBF, su destino final. Pedimos sus oraciones para que todo vaya bien.

Our journey continues. Our dossier is finally out our hands!! The mountain of official paperwork was mailed off yesterday. Our agency will review it to make sure everything is in order, and we'll tell us if anything needs to redone. From there, the file goes to Colombia, first to get translated and then to ICBF, the body who will determine the faith of our application.
